If you call them entertainers, you are right. If you call them gesters, you are also right. And, if you you like, call them jolly good fellows.

The truth about ‘Gbadun Squad’ is that they are celebrities making waves in Odonla area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria. As their name implies; Gbadun Squad is for connection and enjoyment.

But, on Saturday, 10th October, 2026, Gbadun Squad; this group of vibrant young men and women came out in their numbers to engage a selected team of Tinubu Estate Coaches in a novelty football match.

Led by their President, TMD and Captain Ximple; popularly known as General Shekau, Gbadun Squad arrived the Mini football pitch at Tinubu Estate very early, even before the kickoff time of 7am on Saturday.

There were also great talents such as Adex, Dotmam, the soft spoken accountant, MC Edos, George (GNLA), Damola, goalkeeper Abana and DJ 1Shot. Their players shone like million stars for Gbadun Squad, with some of them displaying good football skills.

Odonla Football Club Coach Adio Ismail led the Coaches as Captain, while other coaches such as Samson Lekan, Ibrahim, Tunde, Samson Akintayo, Victor and the sleekly Steven joined to give the entertainers a good game.

Niyi (Eleniyan) and David Moore, who are part of the recently formed All Stars of Odonla team, were not left out of the entertaining encounter.

Prelude to the match proper; their early arrival at the match venue, underscored Gbadun Squad’s high level of commitment and discipline. Even, hosts of the match that day; Tinubu Estate Coaches applauded their near perfect organization as a group.

Despite the delays, the novelty match officially commenced after the President of Batecda Sports Club, Kyari performed the kick off formalities, and pleaded for fair play between both teams.

With Gbadun Squad taking the first kick, they invaded the vital area of the Coaches and tried to get an early goal.

But the rearguard of the hosts survived the scare from Adex, Ximple, DJ 1Shot and TMD who shot at will at the goal area. Their early incursions were perfectly blocked by Coaches Tunde, Victor and Eleniyan.

Each time their shots went past the defence, Coach of Batecda Football Academy, Samson Lekan was at the post as goalkeeper to gather the ball perfectly, frustrating the Gbadun Squad players from achieving their main target to score.

As the well attended match progressed, Adio, who displayed top football instincts, broke into the defence of Gbadun Squad consistently, forcing some tough saves by goalkeeper Abana.

David Moore, however gave the Coaches something to cheer when he lashed home a long range shot that goalkeeper Abana attempted to stop. Unfortunately, Abana’s struggle to stop the ball failed as he pushed it into his own net.

Not too long from the opening goal, a floating pass found Coach Tunde in the box and he cooly guided the ball into Gbadun Squad’s net to give the Coaches a 2-0 lead at half time.

When the second half began, fitness became a tough challenge as some players of both teams were seen gasping for breath. The Gbadun Squad side were more hit as many of their players were match rusty.

Captain Adio however scored the third goal and sealed victory for the Coaches, leaving the scoreline at 3-0 against Gbadun Squad at full time.

What would have been another goal for the Coaches went wide as Steven went solo for a bicycle kick with few minutes to end of the match.

DJ 1Shot, who mesmerized with deft touches in the midfield of Gbadun Squad, was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in his team and received a prize of N20,000 donated by Coach Tunde.

Batecda President Kyari, who Honoured the invitation to perform the kick-off formalities at a very short notice, donated the sum of N10,000 for refreshment that day.

There was light refreshments after the match, while players of Gbadun Squad have challenged the Coaches for a rematch next month.
