Argentina legend Lionel Messi has announced his retirement from international football.
Eyeonthenews.news reports that Messi officially said he was done with international football on his Instagram page on Monday.
The little magician from Rosario ends his international career with 125 goals and 68 assists from 207 appearances.
Messi’s 21-year career’s pinnacle would undoubtedly be lifting the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022, a final which saw him bag a brace.
He also won the Copa America twice (in 2021 and 2024), helping Argentina end a 28-year trophy drought in the process.
Meanwhile, this is the second time that the former Barcelona forward has announced his retirement from international football.
