The newly deployed Commissioner Of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, has officially assumed duties in Plateau State.
Faniyan, a staunch member of the 79/84 Set Of Christ’s School Ado Ekiti Alumni,
is the 47th Commissioner Of Police in Plateau State.

CP FANIYAN AYODEJI, psc, MNIPS, fdc, ASSUMES DUTY AS THE 47TH COMMISSIONER OF POLICE PLATEAU STATE COMMAND.
The Plateau State Police Command is pleased to announce the assumption of duty of CP Faniyan Ayodeji, psc, MNIPS, fdc, as the 47th Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command.
CP Faniyan Ayodeji takes over the leadership of the Command with over three decades of meritorious service, strategic leadership experience and proven expertise in crime fighting, peacekeeping, investigation and internal security.
Born on 8th February, 1967, CP Faniyan holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Honours Degree in Zoology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and a Master’s Degree in Security and Strategic Studies (MSSS) from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
Faniyan also attended the popular Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, where he had his secondary education in the then Ondo State, Nigeria.
He was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Course 18, in 1994, and graduated as the Overall Best Cadet in Academics.
A Fellow of the National Defence College (FDC), CP Faniyan has attended several strategic and professional courses, including the following:
✓ Higher Defence and Strategic Studies Course at the National Defence College, Abuja.
✓ Tactical Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College, Jos.
✓ Strategic Leadership Course at the National Institute of Police Studies.
CP Faniyan has served in several operational, investigative and administrative capacities within and outside the Nigeria Police Force, some of which includes:
✓ Commander, Nigerian Contingent, United Nations Peacekeeping Mission, South Sudan — 2015–2017;
✓ Team Leader, IGP Special Investigation Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja;
✓ Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC), Investigations, Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City — 2023–2025;
✓ Commissioner of Police, Administration, Nigeria Police Force Cooperative Multipurpose Society Ltd., Lagos.
He also served meritoriously on United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in Timor-Leste and South Sudan, where he earned multiple commendations for professionalism, dedication to duty and the protection of civilians.
CP Faniyan Ayodeji, psc, MNIPS, fdc is a security professional, peace builder and advocate of modern Policing. His leadership philosophy is anchored on discipline, integrity, community partnership, respect for human rights and an unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.
