Marcus Pedersen opened the scoring before Erling Haaland struck twice in the second half to seal Norway’s passage into the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup knockout stage on Monday night, early Tuesday in Africa.
The highly explosive second group match ended 3-2 in favour of Norway against Senegal at the New York/New Jersey Stadium.
Senegal, meanwhile, is third in the group with zero points from two outings, and would be all out to beat Iran in their last group game to stand a chance of qualifying for the next round.
