Following the induction of Technology Executive, Olu Hector Fowobaje and well over 250 new members by the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD), the Institute has charged the newly inducted directors to promote ethical leadership and institutional resilience to ensure business sustainability.

Olu Hector Fowobaje, the former Chairman of 1979/84 set of the Christ’s School Alumni Association, and other Directors were honoured during the induction ceremony held on Thursday, July 24, 2026, by CloD at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island in Lagos.

During the induction ceremony with the theme; ‘The Director Mandate: Governing for Value and Resilience,’ the Guest Speaker, Prof. Konyinsola Ajayi, described directorship as a position of stewardship that requires directors to safeguard institutions beyond their tenure.

According to Professor Ajayi, “the foremost responsibility of every director is to ensure the survival, resilience and sustainability of organisations.’

He said; “The true test of a director is whether an institution becomes stronger and continues to thrive after the board has changed its leadership.

“Organisations now face growing challenges, including climate change, cybersecurity threats, geopolitical tensions, artificial intelligence and changing stakeholder expectations.”

Ajayi further revealed that the current realities required boards that are sensitive and forward-looking, adaptable and committed to institutional sustainability, and advised the new inductees to see themselves as custodians of organisations rather than builders of personal legacies in business spaces.
