. Argies In Second Consecutive Final –
A brief scuffle broke out between the Argentina and England players after the defending World Cup champion beat the Three Lions 2-1 in Atlanta on Wednesday, 15th July, 2026.
After Anthony Gordon scored the opener for the Three Lions in the 55th minute, goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez helped the defending champion reach its third final in four editions.
The fight was instigated after Jude Bellingham hit Argentina substitute Valentin Barco as the South American team celebrated their qualification to their second consecutive semi final of the FIFA World Cup.
Bellingham had sparked another altercation in the closing minutes of the game after he fouled Lionel Messi and tried to confront the Argentina No. 10 for diving.
Enzo Fernandez and Cristian Romero immediately came to push away Bellingham while Dan Burn and Ivan Toney of England also got involved.
However, England suffer a World Cup heartbreak with late semi-final defeat by Argentina.
Meanwhile La Albiceleste head coach Lionel Scaloni became just the seventh manager to lead his side to two World Cup finals. He was also in-charge of the side during their 2022 triumph, where they defeated France to lift the trophy.
