Rangers International of Enugu defeated Ikorodu City Football Club 2-1 on Sunday evening to clinch the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) coveted trophy with the top prize of N200 million.
The 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League final Match Day got underway at 4pm at Onikan Stadium, just as other centers started simultaneously across the country.
This is the ninth league title in the Coal City club’s history.
The Flying Antelopes won the high-stakes encounter that decided both the league winner and Confederations Cup representative, scoring once in each half to claim the precious three points that sealed the title for the Fidelis Ilechukwu-led team.
Captain Chidiebere Nwobodo scored both goals, one in each half of the match.
Meanwhile, defending champions Remo Stars were relegated to the Nigeria National League at the end of the season.
The Ikenne-based club’s relegation was confirmed following Kun Khalifat’s 3-1 win over Wikki Tourists, hours after the club could only manage a point at Bendel Insurance.
