GTI Holds Webinar On Grassroots Football Investment And It’s Impact On Youths

The GTI Investment Group on Friday, 13th March, 2026 held a Webinar on Grassroots Football Investment And It’s Impact On the Youths.

The event commenced at 10am at GTI corporate headquarters, Tinubu Street in Lagos Island.

It was put together to explore how the Nigeria Football Fund (TNFF) is helping create a more structured and sustainable pathway for football development in Nigeria

Nelson Ine, Executive Director of GTI Asset Management & Trust Limited, a speaker, while speaking during the session, emphasized the gains and business viability of football development.

Ine identified infrastructural development as a key area that must be taken seriously, to ensure the youths engage in healthy competition.

With quality infrastructure, and giving the model GTI has in its plans, there must be fairness, giving the participants ability to compete and ability for integration.

According to him, a thorough transition program is urgently needed to harness the talents that would form the pool of professional players needed for various teams across the country.

He singled out corporate governance as a catalyst to ensure that operators are doing their work with financial discipline, and uncovered the business viability of investing in the game from the grassroots -through the academies to the Nigeria Football League, the topmost cadre of the game in Nigeria.

In Ine’s words; “We need to change the approach towards football development in our country. There must be financial discipline, accountability, regulation and supervision, these would attract the required funds. This is significant to ensure every investor has confidence in the development process”.

Ine further said that there must be consistent capacity building and that the country should key into modern day technology to ensure the game is lifted out of its current situation.

Abiodun Ogunniyi, the Head, Research at GTI, who doubles as a speaker at the Webinar also talk extensively on the football Eco system in the country, while Tewogbade Abegunde of GTI Finance Academy moderated affairs of the session.
