Manchester United dealt Arsenal a blow in the Premier League title race with a 3-2 win at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s men took the lead just before the half-hour mark as Martin Odegaard’s wayward effort was diverted into the back of the net by Lisandro Martinez, but an error from Martin Zubimendi allowed United back into the match.

Bryan Mbeumo got the equaliser and then Patrick Dorgu stole the show with a thumping strike just after half-time.

Arsenal responded with a late equaliser through Mikel Merino, but Michael Carrick’s side left with all three points thanks to Matheus Cunha’s brilliant curling effort.

The victory sends Manchester United to fourth place on the EPL table.

Michael Carrick is making this interim job look pretty easy, isn’t he? The interim Manchester United manager was asked how proud he was of his players in his post-match interview with Sky Sports.

“Massively proud. It was different to last week, they were two very different games. They put us under a lot of pressure and we didn’t have as much regular threat as we did last week.

“They were periods where we looked really dangerous — to come here and score three goals in the manner we did. The boys had to put an awful lot (of effort) in today. It was a massive effort and I’m really proud of them.”
