The re-election of Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, who returned unopposed as Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) this week, was a strong statement of his credibility as an administrator.

The former Super Eagles defender secured a unanimous 23 votes from the 23 accredited delegates, earning another term at the helm of football administration in Anambra State.

Johnson Ifejika also retained his position as Vice Chairman, while veteran sports journalist Ralph-Chidozie George was returned as a board member.

Iloenyosi’s landline victory at the election underlined his excellent performance during the first term, hence he was picked again as ‘The Best Man For The Job.’

His developmental football programs in Anambra State has earned him commendations from football enthusiasts, including the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Shortly after the election, which took place at East End Hotel, Awka, NFF representative, Ibrahim Aminu, praised Iloenyosi’s stewardship of football in the state, noting that his unopposed return reflected the overwhelming confidence and acceptance he enjoys among stakeholders in the State.

Aminu described the electoral process as “free, fair and transparent,” while congratulating the newly elected board.

Reacting immediately after his unopposed election, Iloenyosi said: “I’m honoured by the confidence reposed in me. Together, we will continue working to develop football in Anambra State and create more opportunities for our young talents.”

Iloenyosi’s re-election follows a tenure marked by efforts to strengthen grassroots football, improve coaching education and promote collaboration with football stakeholders across the state.

“This victory belongs to everyone who believes in the progress of football in Anambra. Our work continues, and we remain committed to taking the game to greater heights,” he added.

With a fresh mandate secured, Iloenyosi is expected to continue driving initiatives aimed at developing football across the state while working closely with the Nigeria Football Federation and other stakeholders to advance the sport in Nigeria generally.

Iloenyosi was first elected chairman in October 2020 but only assumed office fully in July 2022 after the Nigeria Football Federation upheld his petition and directed that his board be inaugurated.
