Netherlands sealed the top spot in Group F after beating Tunisia 3-1 in its final FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage match at the Kansas City Stadium on Thursday.
The win took Ronald Koeman’s side to seven points, while Japan finished second with five, followed by Sweden with four points.
Tunisia ended the campaign with zero points and 12 goals conceded.
Netherlands took the lead in the third minute after Ellyes Skhiri bundled the ball into his own net, and Brian Brobbey doubled the tally four minutes later.
Tunisia got one back through Hazem Mastouri’s header nine minutes into the second half, but Jan Paul van Hecke restored his side’s two-goal lead eight minutes later with a header of his own.
The first-place finish means that Netherlands will take on African champion Morocco in the round of 32 after it finished second behind Brazil in Group C.
