The fire occurred on March 18, 2026, at No. 1 Olaribigbe Street, Zion Area.
In a statement signed on Saturday by Ondo State Police Command, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, revealed that a full-scale investigation has commenced into a tragic fire that claimed the victims, who were identified as Queen Ohwo, aged six, and Everlyne Ohwo, aged four, daughters of Mr and Mrs Ohwo Peter.
The children’s remains, described as “severely burnt,” were evacuated to the Health Centre in Ode-Aye.
The statement added that the parents “were found to be in deep shock and trauma.”
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by negligence during cooking activities.
However, CP Adebowale Lawal has ordered “a thorough and discreet investigation into the incident to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak.”
