President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Tuesday, 17th March, 2026, for a state visit to the United Kingdom.

Eyeonthenews.news gathered that the trip is part of diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening relations between Nigeria and the UK.

The historic State Visit to the United Kingdom, marks the first of such engagement by a Nigerian leader in 37 years and signalling a renewed phase in diplomatic, economic and cultural relations between both countries.

The president will be accompanied on the trip by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as guests of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

According to the programme of events, the British monarch will host President Tinubu and the First Lady at Windsor Castle from Wednesday to Thursday, in what officials describe as a landmark diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

During the visit, Tinubu is expected to hold high-level meetings with British government officials and other stakeholders to discuss areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, and economic partnership.

A major highlight of the visit will be the signing of a £746 million financing agreement between UK Export Finance, the Nigerian Ports Authority and Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Finance to support the rehabilitation of two of Nigeria’s major maritime facilities, the Lagos Port Complex in Apapa and the Tin Can Island Port Complex.

The project is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s port infrastructure and improve the efficiency of maritime trade operations, which remain critical to the country’s economy.
